How to Leave a Good First Impression When Babysitting

Whether you are a Chicago babysitter, or from New York, when you get your first babysitting assignment from Babysitters4Hire.com, you want to leave a good impression. The first thing to remember is to be polite. Please and thank you go a long way. It is old fashioned, but addressing your employers as Mr. and Ms. until you are invited to use their first names, is a sign of respect that will never be counted against you.

Pay attention to the condition of the house when you arrive, and make sure you leave it the same. Vacuum and wash dishes at the end of your shift if necessary. Make sure the children help you, they should learn to clean after themselves.

No matter how bored you may feel, do not raid the fridge or call your friends on the phone. At the end of your shift, thank your host for the opportunity for sitting, and advise them of any phone messages or noteworthy events.

The first time you babysit, send a thank you note within 24 to 48 hrs and include your business card. Follow these simple rules of courtesy and your repeat business will skyrocket.
